15 Year Old Shot While Sleeping In Bed Sunday Morning
On Sunday, April 5, around 5:30am Gary Police responded to shots fired with a gun shot victim on the 3600 block W. 11th Ave, according to Commander Jack Hamady of the Gary Police. Officers arrived and located one 15-year-old male with bullet wounds to his right arm and right thigh. Police located numerous .223 caliber rifle rounds in the street. Hamady stated, rounds hit multiple homes on 11th. The 15-year-old victim was sleeping when he woke from a pain in his leg, Hamady said. No other injuries were reported from the other homes hit.

This is the fourth home in recent weeks that were all hit by gunfire and injured a person inside unknowingly. March 23 two children were hit by gunfire in their residence which resulted in Gary Police hitting the streets in full force, which included SWAT, Detectives, and special units.
