17 Year Old Killed & 19 Year Old In Serious Condition In EC
On July 21, 2020 at approximately 2:58pm East Chicago Officers were dispatched to the T-alley between the 4000 block of Pulaski and Alder Street in reference to shots fired, according to Deputy Chief Jose Rivera of The East Chicago Police.
Upon Officers arrival they located an unresponsive 17 year old male juvenile laying in the alley directly behind Tech Credit Union located at 2310 E. Columbus Drive. The 17 year old juvenile victim suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and arm, Rivera stated. The victim was transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. The victim has been identified by The Lake County Coroner as Camrone Williams, 17, of South Holland.
Witnesses on scene advised Officers that the victim was with another juvenile who ran towards Tech Credit Union. Officers located that juvenile in the parking lot of Tech Credit Union and recovered a semi automatic handgun from him, Rivera stated. The juvenile was placed under arrest and transported to the East Chicago Police Department as a person of interest.
As Officers and Detectives were still at the scene of the shooting dispatch advised that a second gunshot victim was dropped off at St. Catherine’s Hospital. The second victim is a 19 year old male from East Chicago. The 19 year old male victim suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and stomach. He was listed in serious condition and transported to the University of Chicago for further treatment, Rivera said. Detectives are following up on many leads regarding this case, Rivera told RNS.

Update – The victim has been identified by The Lake County Coroner as Camrone Williams, 17, of South Holland.
