18 Year Old Crown Point Man Faces Numerous Charges
On Friday, May 6th, 2022 at approximately 8:00 PM, Cedar Lake Reserve Corporal Harry Preste observed a tan Honda CRV traveling in the 13100 block of Fairbanks St at a high rate of speed northbound, according to Deputy Chief Carl Brittingham.
Corporal Preste continued to observe as the driver, Brody Bramwell, 18 of Crown Point, Indiana, continued to disregard stop signs. When Corporal Preste attempted to make a traffic stop Brody Bramwell fled from Corporal Preste through several streets, until turning around and going back south.
The pursuit went down W. 133rd Ave and north onto Lake Shore Drive. At this time Corporal Ryan Miller, Officer Bradly Kamstra, Officer Richard Pennington, and Officer Ben King were assisting in the pursuit.
Just west of Hilltop Ave on Lake Shore Drive Brody Bramwell struck another vehicle in the rear end, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Brody continued westbound fleeing from Officers until his vehicle was completely disabled from the crash.
Brody was taken into custody by Officers and was transported to the Lake County Jail, where he was lodged.
Brody Bramwell will be charged with Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony), Failure of Duty (leaving the scene of an accident), possession of alcohol by a minor, and possession of marijuana (THC vape cartridges). Brody Bramwell will also be issued several infractions for moving violations. The incident remains under investigation for additional charges.
There were only minor injuries to an occupant of the vehicle Brody Bramwell struck while fleeing. The Cedar Lake Fire Department was called to the scene and assisted.
