Two Lake County E911 Operators Test Positive For COVID-19

As the spread of COVID-19 continues to impact Lake County hard, RNS has learned two E911 dispatchers have tested postive for COVID-19 last week. We reached out to E911 today for a statement.

Two Lake County 911 employees have tested positive for COVID-19 disease, Ryan Cusack PIO for E911 said in a release Monday. Both public safety dispatchers have been self-isolating for more than a week and were informed of the positive test result on April 10th. The cases appear to be unrelated and are not believed to have been contracted at the dispatch center, according to Cusack. Operational capability has not been impacted, and the dedicated, professional telecommunicators of Lake County 911 remain ready to answer the call from fellow first responders, residents, and visitors of Lake County.

Lake County 911 wishes a speedy recovery to affected staff members as efforts continue to prevent the spread of illness in the dispatch center. Enhanced cleaning and disinfection of the facility, individually issued keyboards and mice, and mandatory use of masks while in the dispatch center are some of changes implemented during the pandemic, Cusack told RNS.

Earlier this month we spoke to Cusack about the procedures they were utilizing already to prevent any spread in the center, which is attached in the article below.

  1. You guys should really do more research before putting out articles and maybe talk to some of the actual 911 employees and not a paid muppet because 98% of what is in this article is false. To put a statement saying that this was in no way contracted at work when employees have came to work sick and since one employee has died is a disgrace and you published an outright lie.

  2. Prayers are with you. Stay safe. This is so difficult for us all. We will get through this. God bless you and everyone there.
