Gary Man Killed Tuesday Morning
On March 9, 2021 approximately 5:00 AM Gary Officers responded to the 1300 block of Dakota Street for shots fired, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield of The Gary Police.
Upon arrival officers located an unresponsive male (39-year-old male from Gary) in a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds. Gary medics arrived on scene and found no signs of life, Westerfield said. The male was later declared deceased by the Lake County Coroner’s Officer. The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as Russell Hillard II, 39, of Gary.
