Detectives Searching For Murder Suspect
Lake County Metro Homicide Detectives are asking for the community’s assistance in locating Shavesz Johnson, a 24-year-old male from East Chicago Indiana.
On March 2, 2021 Johnson is alleged to have shot and killed Aaron Hawkins in a residence in the 2100 block of Vermont Street in Gary. Shavesz Johnson was formally charged in Lake County Criminal Court with Murder and an enhancement for use of a firearm during the commission of the crime.
Johnson should be considered armed and dangerous; the public should not approach him. Anyone with information on the whereabout of Shaves Johnson is urged to call the Metro Homicide Unit at 219-755-3855 or 911.
