Merrillville Police Investigating Homicide early Monday
Around midnight Sunday / Monday a shooting occurred near Merrillville High School located at 276 E 68th Place, according to Merrillville Police.
Merrillville Police located a crashed red vehicle with no occupants near the school parking lot along with multiple shell casings on arrival. Around the same time a silver vehicle was seen traveling at a high rate of speed South on Broadway. The vehicle ended up driving to Methodist Southlake Hospital with two gun shot victims inside. One of the those victims succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as Tyree N. Riley, 18, of Merrillville.
