Cedar Lake Dive Team Boat Struck Responding To EC

On April 1st, 2021 at approximately 7:45AM the Cedar Lake Fire Department was dispatched for a MABAS 207 Dive Rescue Incident in East Chicago, according to Cedar Lake Officials.

Upon arrival, the assigned Cedar Lake Dive Team requested additional resources from Cedar Lake Fire Department.

The Cedar Lake Dive Operations requested an additional piece of equipment, calling for a dive boat, to respond to the scene. While responding to the scene, Fire Personnel approached the intersection of US 41 and Rt 30. While navigating through this intersection, the trailer was struck from behind by a maroon 2011 GMC. The Trailer became dislodged from the Fire rescue vehicle, coming to a complete stop in the middle of the intersection.

Schererville Fire and Police Departments responded along with Cedar Lake Fire Department Deputy Chief Nick Mager and Cedar Lake Police Department Chief William Fisher. Upon our arrival, briefing was provided to Chief Fisher and Deputy Chief Mager by Schererville Police and Fire Department Officials.

It was found that there were no injuries to either parties involved in the accident and that there was property damage to both of the vehicles involved in the accident.
