False Rumors Spread In The Search Of Kyrin Carter

Friday afternoon Hammond Police & Fire converged on the area of focus they have been concentrating on most of the week. During the search time Hammond Police pushed a crowd back from the scene which caused speculation and a Chicago news station to prematurely say a recovery was made. This was false. The posting on recovery was deleted however many posts started on social media with no confirmation. The station also added a new video was found showing Kyrin Carter walked into the water which is false as well.

Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr arrived to the Best Western Friday evening to speak to a crowd of family and civilian searchers to let them know they were only pushed back along with media in case the 12 year old was found. McDermott said, it didn’t need to be all over people’s phones videos or on national News before the family was able to be made aware.

Overnight Friday Hammond Police held a tight perimeter near the focus point for fire department officials to come out early Saturday morning at sunrise to continue the search of the water. As of 9 AM Saturday there was nothing discovered. Another false rumor going around is a different individual was found in the river. Once again that is completely false as well.
