Crown Point Man Threatens Hebron Police With Knife
On Tuesday July 6th around 7:30 AM Hebron Police encountered a male brandishing a knife near Main & Nichols.
When the officer attempted to make contact with the male he charged the officer and threatened to kill him, a police report states. The male slashed at the squad car with the knife and threatened anyone who tried to approach him. The officer stated the subject appeared to be in a state of “excited delirium.”
The Hebron Officer tased the man then disarmed him, successfully taking him into custody. EMS was called to the scene and cleared the man who had no injuries. Illicit drug use is believed to have been factor, police stated. Thankfully no bystanders or officers were injured either.
The male now identified as Cory Cooper, 24, of Crown Point was booked into Porter County Jail on the following charges:
