Hammond Bank Robbed Monday Morning
On Monday August 16th, at approximately 10:10 a.m., Hammond police were dispatched to the 1stSavings Bank located at 7048 Kennedy Ave. in reference to a robbery that just occurred, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police.
Witnesses stated that a white or Hispanic male came into the bank and was armed with a firearm. The suspect vehicle is a silver in color Mazda with Florida plates and was last seen heading east on 80/94. Hammond Police are working in conjunction with the GRIT FBI Task Force.
UPDATE – The suspect and vehicle have been taken into custody by the Hobart Police Department, Gary Police Department and FBI GRIT task force. If anyone has information to add pertaining to this case they are asked to contact Det. Sgt. Gootee at the FBI GRIT task force at (219) 942-4900.
