Lake Dale Fire Chief Locates House Fire Monday

On Monday, 9/6/2021, around 6:57 PM Lake Dalecarlia Fire Department responded to a structure fire of a residence near 157th & Truman, according to Lake Dalecarlia Fire Chief Ryan Kennedy.

Chief Kennedy told RNS he saw smoke while he was in the area around 6:55 PM and then received a call from a neighbor a few minutes later from a neighbor reporting a fire in the same area. Kennedy located the fire called it in and established command. The homeowner of the single family ranch on arrival was actively attempting to extinguish the flames with two garden hoses but was unsuccessful.

The fire appeared to have started outside on “Charlie Side” and spread up the wall to the attic, Kennedy stated. First responding crews from Lake Dalecarlia and Lowell were able to strike the fire quickly on arrival. Crews from Cedar Lake and Crown Point also provided mutual aid on scene. Hebron Fire Department provided station coverage for the area.

There were no reported injuries but the home suffered from moderate damage.
