Peaceful Ending After Police Respond To Disturbance With Weapon
On Monday, April 11, 2022 at approximately 6:36 PM, Merrillville Police Officers were dispatched to the area of the 6600 block of Pennsylvania Street in reference to a reported domestic disturbance with a weapon involved, Merrillville Police told RNS.
Upon arrival, Officers secured the scene and obtained additional information, during which the Merrillville Tactical Apprehension Squad was summoned for assistance. They were accompanied by the Chief and Assistant Chief of Police, and through the cooperative efforts of the negotiation team and tactical personnel, all occupants of the home exited without incident, unharmed, Police said Tuesday. Medics also arrived on scene to provide aid for one subject due to mental health concerns.
“The Merrillville Police Department remains committed in their mission to protect the citizens of Merrillville, as demonstrated by the peaceful resolution of the incident described,” Assistant Chief Kosta Nuses stated.
