On Wednesday, April 20, 2022 , at approximately 7:12 PM, Highland officers were dispatched to a residence in Highland for a report of a battery that took place at another location, according to Commander John Banasiak.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a 47 year old male from Highland who wished to report that he was battered earlier when he stopped his vehicle in the 9700 block of Wildwood Court / Porte De Leau plaza. The victim stated that at approximately 6:00 PM to 6:15 PM, he was driving through the western parking lot of Porte De Leau mall on 45th Street and exited onto the 9700 block of Wildwood Court when he observed a black Nissan sedan stopped on the side of the roadway with a white male and a pregnant white female outside the car. The victim stated he stopped and asked if they needed any assistance and they advised him yes. He parked his car behind theirs and exited his vehicle when the male asked the victim if he could use his cell phone. The victim stated yes and said he had to retrieve his phone from his car. At that time, he suddenly heard a noise and a second white male then exited the rear door of the Nissan and then the first male punched the victim and the second male then struck the victim with a crow bar.

At that moment, an unknown truck arrived in the area and then the two males and the female entered into the Nissan and left traveling north towards 45th Street. The victim declined any assistance from the unknown driver of the truck and the victim then drove home. The victim suffered injuries to his face, nose and lip.
