The Valparaiso Police responded to multiple calls for service during the overnight hours of July 2 to July 3, 2022 regarding a male subject who had entered and attempted to enter occupied homes, according to Valparaiso Police.
During the investigation, Valparaiso Police confirmed the subject had entered a home in the 3600 block of Candlewood Dr. and then a second home in the 1350 block of Ransom Rd. In each incident, the homeowner made contact with the suspect prior to him fleeing the area. Additional information was obtained that the same man had been seen walking the exterior of homes in the 3800 block of Autumn Ln. and the 3600 block of Goodrich Rd. The multiple reports included video footage of the suspect and a clear description was provided to police. The subject was recognized due to prior police contacts, and identified as Christopher Jeffries, 30, of Valparaiso.
Valparaiso Police made contact with Jeffries at his residence, and noted he was still wearing the same clothes that had been observed in the viewed video footage. Jeffries was taken into custody on multiple counts of Residential Entry. The investigation remains ongoing at this time, police said.
