Female Killed, Male Airlifted After Merrillville Shooting
On Thursday, 6/8/2023 at approximately 11:15 PM, Merrillville Police officers were dispatched to the 6400 block of Mississippi Street for the report of a gunshot victim, according to Merrillville Police.
Officers arrived a short time later and located a male who had been shot near the entrance of Menards (6300 Mississippi Street). Medics arrived a short time later and began to treat the victim. The male victim was later transported by helicopter to a Chicago based hospital where he is listed in critical condition but stable.
Officers continued to search the area and located a female who was deceased on scene as a result gunshot wound. The identity of the victim has not been released. Check back for updates at this link.
