Family Express Armed Robbery
At around 5:24 A.M. on October 29, 2023, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received an alert from a panic alarm triggered at the Family Express located at 5449 W. State Rd. 10. Jasper County Deputies, accompanied by an Officer from the DeMotte Police Department, promptly proceeded to the location. While en route to the scene, the alarm company relayed crucial information confirming an armed robbery taking place, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered that the suspects had already fled the area, and the clerk was found unharmed.
Based on witness statements and video evidence, it was determined that a white four-door passenger vehicle with a black roof had arrived at the business. Three individuals, two males and one female, exited the vehicle, dressed in black with face coverings and gloves, brandishing weapons. The suspects issued demands to the clerk and proceeded to steal items from the business. After obtaining an undisclosed sum of U.S. currency and Newport cigarettes, the suspects returned to their vehicle and departed the premises via the west exit.
