Crown Point Woman Arrested After Schererville Robbery
On December 8, 2023 just after 3:00 PM the Schererville Police Department received a 911 call of a robbery that just occurred at the Pine Island Car Wash, 8111 Burr Street, according to Schererville Police.
Upon arrival patrol officers met with the victim, a 61 year old male from Crown Point, who reported being approached by a subject asking him for a cell phone. After saying no, the subject asked the victim if he had a wallet while displaying a firearm. The victim ran from the area while asking for help as the suspect fled the area.
The victim was able to give officers the vehicle description and license plate, and a short time later it was located by Griffith officers at a nearby residence. Contact was made with the registered owner who was subsequently taken into custody. Further investigation revealed a stolen firearm which is believed to be used in the robbery attempt, and drugs.
On December 9th, 2023 23 year old Leah Bledsoe of Crown Point, Indiana was charged with Attempted Robbery, and associated charges. She is currently in custody at the Lake County Jail.
