On February 1, 2024 at approximately 10:30 PM, Gary Police responded to the area of 2200 Carolina St. for a report of multiple groups of people fighting and shots fired.
Upon the officers arrival they found multiple gun casings in the area and located a 20-year-old Gary man shot, sitting in the grass. The victim told the police that he was shot as he was watching several woman fighting. He stated that he heard the shots, and felt a pain to his right thigh. The victim told officers that he did not see who was doing the shooting.
Officers then located a second victim inside of a residence in the 2200 block of Carolina St. The 21-year-old Gary women was shot in the left thigh. She told the officers that she was involved in the fight. She also told the officers she did not know who shot her and would not cooperate with the investigating officers.
Officers were dispatched to Northlake Methodist Hospital for a third victim of the shooting incident who was driven there by a friend. A Gary woman, 24, told the police she was shot while sitting in a friend’s car watching a group of females fighting in the 2200 block of Carolina Street. She suffered a gun shot wound to the left thigh and was transported to another hospital for further treatment, Gary Police said. The victim stated that she heard multiple gun shots but she does not know who shot her either. A Ford Fiesta was also damaged during the shooting.
