Death Investigation Ongoing After A Woman Jumps Out Of Moving Vehicle This Morning
On June 1, 2024, at approximately 12:56 AM, East Chicago Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Dickey Road and Park Street in reference to an agency assist call. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive female laying near the curb bleeding from her head, according to police.
Numerous witnesses were on scene assisting the female. Officers took over CPR compressions until medics arrived. While on scene, officers spoke with the victims boyfriend, who was identified as a 25-year-old Hispanic male from East Chicago. The boyfriend stated that they were headed home from Chicago when they began to have a verbal argument about him attending another game with his friends. During the argument, the victim allegedly opened the front passenger door of the moving vehicle and stepped out. He immediately stopped the vehicle and noticed his girlfriend was unconscious in the street. Numerous witnesses who were driving in the area stopped to assist the victim and called 911.
The 21-year-old female victim of East Chicago was transported to St Catherine Hospital but succumed to her injuries, EC Police reported Saturday morning.
The case is currently being investigated as a death investigation. No further information or names were immediately available.
