One Person Shot On I-80 Near Torrence Saturday
Illinois State Police Troopers responded to an expressway shooting on I-80 westbound near Torrence Ave on Saturday, around Noon, according to ISP.
A preliminary investigation indicated the victim was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 when a black BMW SUV began shooting and struck the victim, ISP told Region News. The victim was located by the Lansing Fire Department with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local area hospital with injuries.
Through the investigation a suspect vehicle was located by ISP troopers, and a traffic stop was attempted. The suspect vehicle fled, and later crashed into another vehicle (property damage only) at Interstate 94 southbound & 83rd St. Two occupants were taken into custody by Troopers.
At approximately 4:00 PM, the westbound lanes were closed for an investigation at State Line Rd. All lanes were reopened a short time later. This case remains active and ongoing. No further information was released at this time.
