Gary Man Identified In Homicide Wednesday
On October 23, 2024, at approximately 11:29 PM, Gary Police Department received a call for service reference shots fired in the area 5800 Cypres Ave., in Gary, according to Commander Jack Hamady.
Officers arrived in the area of 5800 Cypress Ave. when they observed a gold Jeep SUV at the end of the roadway crashed into a tree. Officers located a male subject inside the vehicle who had sustained a gunshot wound and did not show any signs of life.
Gary Fire Department arrived on scene and advised that the male did not have a pulse and there were no signs of life. Officers secured the crime scene and contacted Lake County Prosecutors Homicide Task Force as well as Lake County CSI.
The victim was identified by the Lake County Coroner as 21 year old, Christian Messiah Lewis, from Gary.
