Schererville SWAT Situation Update
On 11-14-24 at approximately 11:18 AM, Schererville Officers were dispatched to Springvale Dr & Orchard Ct in regards to a male that was walking around screaming and stabbing garbage cans. Prior to Police arrival, the subject then retreated to his residence.
Officers arrived on scene to investigate and approached the residence. Upon approaching the residence, the male inside the house approached the door with a rifle pointing at the Officer. The Officer discharged his weapon and the male subject retreated inside the residence.
The area was contained immediately and surrounding homes were cleared for safety. The Northwest Regional Swat Team (Nwr Swat) was dispatched and after some negotiations, the subject was taken into custody.
