Suspect From Dollar General Robbery Sunday Arrested Same Day By MTAS Team
Around 10 AM, Sunday, Merrillville Police responded to DG Market located at 6161 Cleveland for an Armed Robbery.
On arrival it was learned a male suspect armed with gun robbed the DG and fled the scene in vehicle. No employees or customers were injured during the incident, according to Merrillville Chief Kosta Nuses.
A good description of the suspect vehicle led police to the suspects residence where officers watched the vehicle through the day until a warrant was obtained. A cash register that was taken from the robbery was also found in nearby dumpster.
Shortly after 3 PM, Sunday, Merrillville’s MTAS Team served the Search Warrant near 73rd & Wallace where a suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Merrillville Chief Kosta Nuses also worked the perimeter with the team during the warrant. “To say my officers are the best is an understatement. They acted quicky, professionally and apprehended our suspect. Let this be a clear warning…we will not tolerate violence and violent crime. We will act swiftly and we will catch you,” Chief Kosta Nuses told RNS.
