Fatal Train Collision In East Chicago
Around 3 PM, Monday, a vehicle was struck by a train in East Chicago, according to East Chicago Police.
Preliminary investigation shows a vehicle was traveling northbound in the 4600 block of Euclid approaching the CSX train crossing. The gates & lights at the crossing were activated and functioning when the driver of the vehicle attempted to go around the gates and was struck.
The vehicle was struck on the drivers side door by the train. A male driver in his 50’s died on impact. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notifications.
