Local Tow Truck Driver Dies In Horrific Crash In Kankakee County Illinois
On December 24th, around 7 AM, Illinois State Police responded to Illinois Route 17 & Bull Creek Road in reference to a traffic crash involving two Truck-Tractor Semitrailers, according to Illinois State Police.
A preliminary investigation by Illinois State Police revealed that for unknown reasons the driver of one of the Truck-Tractor Semitrailers lost control of the wheel striking the front of the second Truck-Tractor head on. One driver was pronounced deceased at the scene and a juvenile passenger, age 15, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and later flown out. One of the trucks started on fire and a pole with electrical lines came down at the scene as well.
One of the trucks involved was a local heavy wrecker from Ray & Wally’s Towing in Northwest Indiana. Ray & Wally’s released a statement saying, “This is a sad time for our team and the families involved. We ask you to pray for the healing of his son and to bring his family some comfort in this tragic loss. May God be with our team as we work through this tragedy.”
All lanes of traffic were temporarily shut down for the investigation yesterday. The identification of the driver has not been released by the Kankakee County Coroner. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ray & Wally’s and their families during this time.
