Highland Police Investigating Sunday Shooting
Around 10:30 AM, Sunday, multiple calls for shots fired were received in the 9600 block of Forrest in Highland.
Around the same time a male gun shot victim drove to the Urgent Care next to Stracks on Cline & 45th. The victims vehicle was located in the First Merchants Bank parking lot with numerous bullet holes, broken windows, and flat tires.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for immediate surgery.
A crime scene is setup in the 9600 block of Forrest where numerous bullet holes are in an apartment building across the street from the believed shooting location and a few cars in the immediate area including a car at the Sav A Stop gas station located on 45th. Shell casings were found on the sidewalk near the apartment. The bullet that hit the apartment across the street just missed innocent children inside, according to the resident.
The Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigators are currently processing the various scenes.
The Highland Police Department thanked the Indiana State Police, Griffith, Schererville and Munster Police Departments for assisting with the various scenes and handling other calls for service during this incident. There is no threat at this time to the public.
