𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐄 – The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Violent Crimes Unit arrested 49-year-old Michael Dascenzo of Crete, IL, for threatening a public official, according to a press release from ISP. ​

The Will County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Dascenzo with one count of Threat to a Public Official (Class 3 Felony) and one count of Harassment by Electronic Communications (Class 4 Felony).

On January 9, 2025, a message of a threatening nature was sent to Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Office of Constituent Affairs from an email associated with Dascenzo. ​ ISP agents conducted a thorough investigation, and on February 25, 2025, ISP agents obtained an arrest warrant and took Dascenzo into custody without incident.

Dascenzo is being held at the Will County Adult Detention Center awaiting a pre-trial detention hearing.
