Fatal Crash In Hammond Under Investigation
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, the Hammond Police Department responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on Kennedy Avenue in the 7400 block, according to Hammond Police.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle traveling northbound on Kennedy Avenue collided with multiple unoccupied Domino’s Pizza delivery vehicles parked in the lot. The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, was ejected during the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A witness saw the SUV hit a curb then went over the median into a grass area before colliding with the parked cars on the opposite side of Kennedy.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld until released by the Lake County Coroner.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hammond Police Department’s Traffic Division. No other injuries were reported.
