
Gary Man Charged with Armed Robbery
Shaquann Arreon Anderson, 28, has been charged following a June 14, 2025 case at a Clark gas station in the 1400 block of Clark Road in Gary.
Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance involving a firearm. Responding agencies included the Lake County Sheriff’s Department and the Gary Police Department. A Lake County Sheriff’s officer stopped a black Dodge Charger attempting to leave the area. A loaded handgun with an extended magazine was recovered from one of the vehicle’s occupants.
According to court documents, surveillance footage showed Anderson exiting the vehicle while holding a firearm. He was seen pointing the weapon at one individual’s head and striking another in the face multiple times. He then pointed the firearm toward the sky and fired off several shots. Witnesses reported that Anderson took a wallet during the case while armed. The wallet was not recovered. Witnesses also stated Anderson made verbal threats to shoot individuals at the scene.
One individual sustained a bleeding laceration to the forehead, along with facial injuries and scratches. Officers observed a large amount of blood on the person’s face. Anderson was arrested at the scene wearing clothing that matched what was observed in the surveillance footage.
At the time of the June 2025 case, Anderson was not lawfully permitted to possess a handgun due to his pending felony charges.
Charges were filed on June 14, 2025 for this case:
- Armed Robbery – Level 3 Felony
- Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon – Level 5 Felony
- Intimidation – Level 5 Felony (2 counts)
- Pointing a Firearm – Level 6 Felony (2 counts)
- Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon – Level 6 Felony
- Battery Resulting in Moderate Bodily Injury – Level 6 Felony
- Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun – Class A Misdemeanor
Charges pending from Anderson’s 2021 case (Filed February 2022):
- Use of False Information to Obtain a Firearm – Level 5 Felony (2 counts)
- False Statement on Criminal History Information Form – Level 6 Felony (2 counts)
- Assisting a Criminal – Level 6 Felony (2 counts)
Anderson is currently out on bond for these charges, with a jury trial scheduled for August 2025.
Both cases are assigned to Lake County Superior Court Judge Samuel Cappas.
