Griffith Man Charged in Violent Home Invasion and Battery Incident
According to court documents, Myles Lee Hagle, 33, of Griffith, has been charged in Lake County following a violent home invasion on June 26, 2025, that allegedly involved forced entry, battery, strangulation, and violations of protective orders.

Police were dispatched to a residence on N. Lafayette Street in Griffith after a 911 call reported that Hagle had entered the home without permission and attacked a woman inside, in violation of multiple existing court orders. Officers found the home in disarray and observed injuries on the victim consistent with battery and strangulation.
Investigators learned that in the late evening hours, Hagle allegedly kicked in the back door of the residence, breaking the door frame to gain entry. A verbal altercation ensued, and when the victim attempted to retreat upstairs, Hagle reportedly grabbed her from behind and applied pressure to her neck with his arm, restricting her breathing and causing her to lose consciousness.
After regaining consciousness on the kitchen floor, the victim confronted Hagle, who allegedly replied that she “deserved a lot more.” The victim had preemptively called her daughter through a hidden phone during the incident and instructed her to call 911 if necessary. The daughter did so after hearing the escalation, prompting Hagle to flee the scene.
Photographs were taken of the victim’s injuries and the damaged door. Area police departments were alerted, and Hagle was later located and detained during a traffic stop by Schererville police.
While being taken into custody, Hagle was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with police. He admitted being at the residence and having contact with the victim but denied using force, suggesting the injuries were either old or self-inflicted. During transport, Hagle acknowledged physical contact occurred but described it as a “hug,” claiming he was trying to get the victim to “relax.”
A background check confirmed that Hagle is the subject of two active no-contact orders related to separate pending criminal cases involving the same victim. A protective order against him is also active through August 2026.
