Teen Killed In Hammond Shooting Wednesday
On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Hammond Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1000 block of 177th Street, according to Hammond Police.
Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male who had been shot. The victim was transported to Community Hospital in Munster in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as Michael J. Reyna, 16, of Hammond. His death has been ruled a homicide.
Detectives are actively investigating the incident. No suspect information is available at this time.
