Gary Man Charged with Multiple Felony Counts of Child Molesting in Jasper County

JASPER COUNTY — A Gary man has been formally charged with multiple felony counts of child molesting following an investigation by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department.

According to court records, 28-year-old Anthony Joseph Davis was charged on July 18, 2025. The charges stem from allegations involving a 14-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl, with reported incidents occurring in 2024 at residences in Wheatfield, Indiana.

The investigation began in May 2025, when the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department received a report concerning communications between Davis and the 14-year-old. According to court documents, Davis had been communicating with her using the messaging applications Talkatone and TikTok.

Both juveniles were interviewed during the course of the investigation and provided statements to law enforcement.

On July 14, 2025, Davis voluntarily appeared at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department for an interview. According to the affidavit, Davis admitted to using the messaging apps and acknowledged that the 14-year-old had sent images to his phone. He also made statements such as, “I will be affected by this because of the shame and I will still be behind bars,” and admitted to an encounter involving the child, stating, “I tried not to [get aroused] because I know it’s wrong.”

Following the interview, Davis was taken into custody and lodged at the Jasper County Jail.

Davis has been charged with the following offenses:

    •    Child Molesting – Level 1 Felony (2 counts)

    •    Child Molesting – Level 4 Felony (2 counts)

    •    Vicarious Sexual Gratification – Level 4 Felony

    •    Performing Sexual Conduct in the Presence of a Minor – Level 6 Felony
