
Hammond Man Sentenced to 42 Years for Multiple Felony Convictions
Lake County Prosecutor Bernard A. Carter announced Tuesday that Devonte Green has been sentenced to 42 years in the Indiana Department of Correction after being convicted in multiple felony cases tied to separate incidents in 2024.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Lindsey Lanham prosecuted the cases, and Judge Natalie Bokota imposed the maximum sentence allowed under Green’s plea agreement. The convictions stem from incidents between April 30 and September 26, 2024, involving multiple victims in separate attacks.
The sentences are as follows:
- Battery with a Deadly Weapon – 6 years DOC
- Criminal Confinement – 12 years DOC
- Criminal Confinement – 19 years DOC
- Attempted Obstruction of Justice – 5 years DOC
Prosecutor Carter commended DPA Lanham for her work and thanked Hammond Police Detective Shawn Ford, Gary Police Detective David Umbarger, and all law enforcement officers involved for their efforts in securing justice for the victims.
Green will serve his 42-year sentence in the Indiana Department of Correction.
