
East Chicago Man Charged After Police Pursuit
A late-night traffic stop in East Chicago turned into a short pursuit, leading to felony charges against an 18-year-old man.
According to court documents, the incident began around 10:10 p.m. on September 12, 2025, near East 138th Street and Main Street. An officer reported seeing a gray Dodge Charger traveling at a high rate of unreasonable speeds through a neighborhood. The vehicle allegedly disregarded a stop sign and made an unsafe left turn on red before accelerating south on Main.
With lights and sirens activated, the officer said the driver continued until finally stopping on 138th Street. The driver, identified in court filings as 18-year-old Kamari A. Greer of East Chicago, allegedly told officers he was just trying to get home before being taken into custody. A 17-year-old female passenger reportedly yelled at officers, refused commands, and resisted before being restrained.
Charges filed September 13, 2025:
• Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony): Using a vehicle to flee from police
• Reckless Driving (Class A Misdemeanor): Causing bodily injury
• Disregarding Stop Sign (Infraction)
Greer was lodged in the Lake County Jail following his arrest.
