Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Crash on Route 30 in Dyer

Dyer – A motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday evening following a crash with a pickup truck on U.S. Route 30 in Dyer.

The collision occurred around 7:20 p.m. in the 100 block of Route 30, just west of Hart Street. According to initial reports, a white pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Route 30 when it attempted to turn left into the entrance of the Dollar Tree/White Rhino parking lot. At that moment, a motorcycle traveling westbound struck the passenger side door of the truck.

Emergency crews quickly responded, and UCAN was initially requested at nearby Pheasant Hills Park. However, due to availability, the helicopter was unable to fly, and the motorcyclist was first transported to Franciscan Health Dyer.

Later in the evening, the victim’s condition was listed as serious, and he was flown to a Chicago hospital for advanced treatment.

The South Lake County Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to investigate the crash. Westbound Route 30 remained closed after Hart Street for several hours while crews worked.

No further details have been released on the rider’s identity or condition
