Rensselaer Woman Charged After ER Incident

A Rensselaer woman has been charged after police say she disrupted an emergency room and intentionally coughed on medical staff.

According to court documents, the Rensselaer Police Department was called to Franciscan Health Rensselaer on September 21, 2025, about an unruly patient. Officers identified the woman as Brittany Allen, 20, of Rensselaer. Police say Allen disturbed seven people in the emergency room and became aggressive toward staff after they attempted to administer antibiotics.

Investigators say Allen stated she was going to give the hospital staff COVID, then removed her mask and coughed into the faces of a nurse and a doctor.

Charges filed September 23,2025:

    •    Battery by Bodily Waste on a Public Safety Officer – Felony 6 (two counts)

    •    Disorderly Conduct – Misdemeanor B (one count)
