Chesterton- A Chesterton man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he broke into Sand Creek Country Club late at night, ran from officers, and was later located hiding under a bridge.
According to court documents, Chesterton Police were dispatched around 11:43 p.m. on September 28, 2025, after an alarm was triggered at the country club on Sand Creek Drive South. Officers arrived to find an unlocked door and went inside to investigate.
Police announced themselves and ordered anyone present to come forward. A man with long black hair, facial hair, wearing a maroon shirt and dark shorts appeared. He was later identified as Jordan Christopher Napier, 31, of Chesterton. Napier reportedly told officers he was “exploring.”
When instructed to approach, Napier instead entered a locker room, grabbed a green jacket and hat, and then ran from the area. Despite being ordered to stop, he bolted through a door and around the building. Officers warned him he would be tased if he continued to flee, but he kept running.
Police temporarily lost sight of Napier until an Indiana State Police K-9 Zero began a track and found him under a bridge on Lost Tree Drive. Napier surrendered and was taken into custody. Officers say he was read his Miranda rights, stated he understood them, and agreed to speak.
Napier admitted to attempting to open a door before entering the building and said he had been in the laundry room, hallway, and maintenance room. He also said he drank from a water cooler and thought about using the steam room, but acknowledged he was not a member of Sand Creek Country Club.
