Gary Man Charged With Rape and Numerous Felonies in Domestic Attack
Gary- A Gary man has been charged in Lake County after police say he assaulted his estranged wife during a violent incident inside her Gary apartment on September 29, 2025.
According to court documents, 54-year-old Harold Cunningham forced sexual acts on the woman and physically restrained her during the altercation. Police noted visible injuries to her neck and arm, and she was treated at Northlake Methodist Hospital following the attack.
Charges filed October 1,2025:
• Rape – Felony 3 (3 counts)
• Criminal Confinement with moderate bodily injury – Felony 4
• Criminal Confinement with bodily injury – Felony 5
• Criminal Confinement – Felony 6
• Strangulation – Felony 6
• Domestic Battery resulting in moderate bodily injury – Felony 6
Cunningham was lodged in the Lake County Jail on October 1, 2025.
