Gary Woman Charged With Multiple Felonies Following Abuse Allegations

Gary- Lakesha Mosley is facing felony charges after investigators with the Gary Police Department say she repeatedly abused her children, threatened to kill them, and was captured on video during one of the incidents, according to court documents filed in Lake County.

On Aug. 21, 2025, while driving home from an appointment, the woman allegedly told her children she would kill them if they said anything to DCS, calling them ungrateful and blaming “all of this” on their fathers. One of the children told investigators their mother often attacked them and waved kitchen knives while making threats.

One child described an incident just days earlier when their sibling wasn’t getting ready fast enough for church. The woman allegedly held the child down on the floor, “squishing” them with her weight as their face turned red. The child recorded part of the incident while pretending to make a “TikTok” video.

The documents also describe a May 6, 2025 incident in the 4100 block of Lincoln Street where the woman allegedly broke a bathroom door, struck a child with a belt, pulled their hair, and slammed a door on their foot.

During a separate interview, another child told detectives they were afraid of their mother and didn’t want her released. They said she had told them she should kill them and had swung knives at the children. Investigators observed a scar on the child’s hand they said came from being cut two days before the August incident.

Investigators say videos recorded on Aug. 16–17, 2025 show the woman on top of a child, pressing her elbow into their throat as their face appears beet red, along with yelling and the sound of belt strikes in the background.

The documents further allege she left the children unsupervised, brought multiple men to the residence while “nearly naked,” allowed the children to be degraded with name-calling, and in earlier years forced one of them to steal from stores, rewarding compliance and beating them when they refused.
