Highway Interdiction Stop in Jasper County Nets Over 150 Grams of Fentanyl
Jasper County- A 35-year-old Illinois woman is facing major felony drug charges after a Lake County Sheriff’s Highway Interdiction Unit traffic stop on Interstate 65 in Jasper County led to the seizure of more than 150 grams of fentanyl, according to court documents.
The traffic stop occurred at approximately 8:59 a.m. on October 21, 2025, near the 230 mile marker on southbound I-65. Officers stopped a black Chevrolet Equinox driven by Emily L. Falk, of Wyanet, Illinois, after observing her following another vehicle too closely. Falk was initially told she would receive only a written warning, but officers noted what they described as “extreme nervousness” and suspicious travel patterns involving a rapid turnaround trip between Louisville, Chicago, and back into Indiana earlier that same morning .
A Munster Police K-9 unit responded to the scene. K-9 Lucy conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and gave a positive indication for narcotics at the driver’s side door. At that point, Falk reportedly told the officer, “listen, you’re going to find it,” before being detained and advised of her Miranda rights .
A search of the vehicle uncovered several rubber-banded bags containing a white powdery substance concealed in the center armrest compartment, along with additional narcotics inside her wallet. The substance field-tested positive for fentanyl with a gross weight of 154.6 grams, including packaging. Falk allegedly told officers she had picked up the narcotics in the Chicago area and was transporting them to Louisville, Kentucky .
She was taken into custody without incident and lodged into the Jasper County Jail.
Charges filed October 22,2025:
• Dealing in a Narcotic Drug (Fentanyl), Possession with Intent to Deliver > 5g — Level 2 Felony
• Possession of a Narcotic Drug > 28g — Level 3 Felony
