Chicago Man Accused of Posting Explicit Photos, Making Threats, and Leading Police on I-65 Chase

Lake Station- A 37-year-old man identified as Levell A. Johnson Jr.has been charged in Lake County after allegedly posting explicit photos of a former girlfriend online, threatening her safety, and leading officers on a high-speed pursuit, according to a probable cause affidavit filed October 30, 2025 .

Lake Station Police Department wrote that between October 24 and October 28, 2025, police investigated a stalking report involving Johnson and a woman with whom he had recently ended a relationship. The woman told police that Johnson had threatened to post nude photos of her on social media—and later discovered that multiple explicit images showing her face and body had been posted to a fake Instagram account.

According to the affidavit, Johnson moved in with the woman in early October but was asked to leave on October 24 after becoming very controlling and prone to anger. She reported that Johnson stole several items from her home, including two televisions, an HP laptop, an Apple iPad, and a heat press, and that he began harassing her through fake accounts and anonymous phone calls.

While police were speaking with the victim, she received a No Caller ID call that she said was from Johnson. During that call, he allegedly admitted to sending messages threatening to post the photos if she didn’t respond but denied being the one who actually uploaded them. He allegedly told her the people harassing her would “continue to do so until 2026” and warned she was at risk of being seriously injured or killed.

On the night of October 28, 2025, officers were dispatched to the victim’s residence after Johnson reportedly showed up. Detectives later spotted a blue Ford Escape registered to him speeding away. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but Johnson fled onto I-65 northbound, reaching speeds of 80 to 90 mph and weaving through traffic. The pursuit ended after an Indiana State Police trooper performed a PIT maneuver near Burr Street, spinning the vehicle into a barrier. Johnson was taken into custody after initially refusing to exit the vehicle.

After waiving his Miranda rights, Johnson allegedly admitted to receiving intimate photos during the relationship, resending them to others, taking the electronics, and sending threats to the victim.
