One Dead After Early Morning Crash in Highland

Highland Police say a 47-year-old man from Highland was killed early Wednesday morning after his vehicle left the roadway and crashed along Indianapolis Boulevard.

According to Commander John Banasiak, officers were dispatched around 4:39 a.m. to the 9200 block of U.S. 41 / Indianapolis Blvd for a report of a rollover crash. When they arrived, officers found that a 2021 Jeep had gone off the roadway for unknown reasons, entered an empty lot at 9227 Indianapolis Blvd, and struck a tree. The impact caused the Jeep to roll over.

The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lake County Coroner’s Office and South Lake County Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the investigation.

Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no further details are being released at this time.
