Pair Charged After Alleged Sexual Act at Gary Bus Stop Observed by Officer
Gary-A Gary man and woman are facing public indecency charges after an officer reportedly observed them engaging in a sexual act in plain view at a city bus stop Monday evening.
Around 6:31 p.m. on November 3, 2025, a Gary Police officer patrolling the area of East 37th Avenue and Broadway saw a woman sitting on top of a man at a public bus stop bench, both with their pants pulled down. The affidavit states the woman was bouncing up and down on the man while their genitals were exposed to passing traffic.
The officer made a U-turn, activated his emergency lights, and approached the pair. The female immediately jumped off the male and began pulling up her pants, while the man covered his genitals before standing up. Both were identified by their own admission as Kara C. Daly, 45, and Eddie O. Achoko, 41, according to police.
According to the affidavit, Achoko apologized and told the officer that Daly came onto him kissing him while he was rapping and writing down music. He said they began engaging in sexual acts but claimed he was unable to get an erection to have sexual intercourse.Officers noted Achoko was cooperative and apologetic, while Daly was argumentative and said she did nothing wrong.
A female witness later stopped and confirmed she saw the same act, telling police she observed the woman bouncing on top of the male at the bus stop.
Both Daly and Achoko were taken into custody and transported to the Gary Police Department for booking. Officers noted both said they were homeless and living on the streets of Gary.
Charges filed:
• Public Indecency — appeared in a state of nudity with intent to arouse sexual desires (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Public Indecency — engaged in sexual intercourse in a public place (Class A Misdemeanor)
Both suspects are lodged in the Lake County Jail.
