Mexican National Sentenced to 4 Months in Prison For Immigration Offense
HAMMOND – Juan Salinas-Santos, 29 years old, of Mexico residing in Hammond, Indiana, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Gretchen S. Lund after pleading guilty to felony reentry of removed alien, announced Acting United States Attorney M. Scott Proctor.
Juan Salinas-Santos was sentenced to 4 months in prison followed by 12 months of supervised release. The supervised release term would go into effect should the Defendant remain in, or return to, the United States within that period following expected removal proceedings.
According to documents in the case, Salinas-Santos’s arrest history includes charges of domestic battery, interfering with the reporting of a crime, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and failure to stop after an accident. He was previously removed from the United States in 2014.
This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the Munster Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Francis Sohn.
