Cedar Lake Woman and Portage Man Charged in Cedar Lake Burglary
Cedar Lake- A 41-year-old Cedar Lake woman and a 35-year-old Portage man are facing felony burglary charges after Lake County officers found the pair loading items from a barn into a vehicle without permission.
According to court documents, an officer was dispatched around 12:44 p.m. on November 14 to the 15000 block of Parrish Avenue in Cedar Lake for a report of an unwanted party on the property. Dispatch advised that two individuals were on scene — one in a light-colored hoodie and the other in a dark-colored hoodie with a face covering.
Upon arrival, the officer found a vehicle with two individuals near the trunk. The female, identified through her Indiana driver’s license as Amanda Stoddard, 41, of Cedar Lake, stated her uncle previously rented the barn and had asked her to retrieve belongings she claimed were left behind. She and Derrick Evone Angelucci, 35, identified through a driver’s license photo, were actively loading items into the vehicle.
Stoddard admitted she removed her vehicle’s license plate because of a ring camera facing the property. She claimed her uncle told her he had permission from the owner, but she could not identify who owned the property or who supposedly granted that permission.
Supervisors contacted the property owner, who stated he bought the property “as is” in July and never gave any permission for Stoddard or Angelucci to remove items. The owner reported he had video footage of the pair removing items and confirmed their vehicle matched footage from earlier that morning.
Both suspects were placed in handcuffs, secured in a patrol vehicle, and transported to the Lake County Jail.
Charges filed Nov. 15, 2025 :
• Burglary — Level 5 Felony
Both suspects remain lodged in the Lake County Jail.
