Jasper County Man Charged After Crossbow Threats Inside Family Home
A Jasper County man has been formally charged after authorities say he pointed a loaded crossbow at three household members and threatened to kill them during a domestic disturbance on November 15, 2025, at a home in the 15300 block of State Road 49 in Jasper County
Deputies were dispatched that evening for a report involving 23-year-old Marshal Gage Higer, who family members said became enraged after being confronted about his behavior toward a cat he had recently been given. According to the affidavit, relatives told investigators that Higer had been displaying worsening behavior in recent days and had become increasingly controlling over the cat. One family member reported repeatedly seeing feces on the animal’s face and stated she believed Higer was “forcing the cats face into it’s liter box for unknown reasons.”
When confronted, the affidavit states Higer “erupted in anger and punched out the kitchen window,” which responding deputies later observed to be broken. Family members further stated that Higer threatened to “Blow their fucking brains out.”
The affidavit states that after the window was broken, Higer retrieved a crossbow and pointed it at three individuals inside the home. One stated the crossbow was loaded with a bolt during the confrontation. Higer was found shortly afterward hiding inside a camper on the property.
