Crown Point Man Receives Sentence in Porter County Following Guilty Plea in Child Solicitation Case
Raul Cano III, 37, of Crown Point, has been sentenced in Porter County following a guilty plea in a child solicitation case, according to court records.
Cano was sentenced in Porter Superior Court II after pleading guilty to Child Solicitation, a Level 5 felony, as a lesser included offense under the terms of a negotiated plea agreement. The sentencing order was filed on December 17, 2025.
Court records show Cano received a three-year sentence to the Indiana Department of Correction, with two years suspended. The remaining one year was ordered executed to be served on home detention. Cano was also placed on two years of formal probation.
As part of the sentence, the court ordered Cano to register as a sex offender and to participate in Project Pro. He was also ordered to undergo PACT and PCADOS evaluations, complete any recommended treatment, and comply with substance abuse treatment as conditions of probation.
Financial penalties imposed by the court include a $500 Sexual Assault Victim Assistance Fee, which was ordered to be taken from bond, and $189 in court costs. An additional $15 pretrial supervision fee was also ordered to be deducted from bond, according to court records.
The plea agreement reflects that the original charge was resolved through a lesser included Level 5 felony plea, with additional counts dismissed at sentencing. All conditions were ordered by the court on December 17, 2025.
