Former Lake County Community Corrections Employee Charged After Investigation Into Inmate Relationship
In September 2025, staff at Lake County Community Corrections (Kimbrough Center) requested an investigation by the Indiana State Police District 13 Criminal Investigations Division. Kimbrough Center staff reported that an employee, Andrea Rebeles, was allegedly involved in a sexual relationship with an inmate and was possibly pregnant with the inmate’s child, according to Indiana State Police.
During an interview with Kimbrough Center staff, the inmate admitted to engaging in a sexual relationship with Rebeles. Rebeles resigned from her position at the Kimbrough Center on September 8, 2025. During a subsequent interview with Indiana State Police detectives, the inmate again admitted to the sexual relationship.
As a result of the investigation, the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office charged Andrea Rebeles on January 16, 2026, with the following offenses:
- Sexual Misconduct by a Service Provider – I.C. 35-44.1-3-10
- Official Misconduct – I.C. 35-44.1-1-1(1)
All criminal defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law
