LaPorte Woman Driving With .358 BAC Charged After Head-On Crash

Angelique Kepshire, 50, of LaPorte, is facing a felony charge after investigators say she was intoxicated and crossed into oncoming traffic, causing a head-on crash that seriously injured another driver.

Kepshire is charged in LaPorte County in connection with a February 13, 2026 crash on State Road 39 near County Road 1000 North.

According to court documents, a LaPorte County sheriff’s deputy responded around 6:15 p.m. to a reported head-on collision where neither driver was exiting their vehicles. Deputies made contact with the driver of the offending vehicle, identified as Kepshire, who had slurred speech, pinpoint pupils, confusion, and difficulty locating her identification.

Kepshire told responders, “There was bad accident,” and stated she had been traveling southbound on State Road 39 toward her residence. Investigators say she appeared unaware of what was happening and was verbally abusive toward first responders.

While preparing her for transport, paramedics handed deputies Kepshire’s bag, where a clear plastic bag containing psilocybin mushrooms was observed. During transport to the hospital, Kepshire reportedly made spontaneous statements about using mushrooms before driving and said she regularly “microdoses” them for pain and aches.

A blood draw obtained by warrant showed Kepshire’s blood-alcohol concentration was 0.358%.

Dash-camera video from the other vehicle reportedly showed the southbound vehicle driven by Kepshire coming around a curve and continuing straight into northbound lanes before striking the vehicle.

A search warrant executed on Kepshire’s satchel also located a marijuana THC pen.

Lodged in the Laporte County Jail.
